Warehouse – General Labor

This position has a wide range of duties, mostly as assigned and as needed; works independently and often unsupervised. It is physically demanding and may require being active and on your feet 8 hours per day. This position may require regular lifting, stacking, and lowering of crates and boxes; works in all weather conditions; and wear protective gear appropriate for the assignment. You must be able to wear and work with gloves on both hands.

– Check in daily with the Warehouse or Operations Manager for duties of the day, additions, changes, special orders, etc.

– Coordinate with Warehouse/Dock Manager to ensure proper position for pulling and rotating products in the cooler and lock-up areas.

– Receive and respond to text messages and group chats as appropriate.

 

Warehouse tasks:

o Utilize a date gun to apply expiration stickers to products as needed.

o Rotate milk in crates, products on shelves, and dump milk pallets.

o Maintain an organized and clean work environment with unobstructed isles: All Warehouse areas, Trucks, and bays/dock areas.

o Utilize and properly store/ plug in electric pallet jacks and dollies.

o Shuttle supplies and pallets to and from warehouses as needed for inventory.

o Offload trucks of unused products and crates.

o Offload trucks of products to store in Warehouse

o Sort bottles according to Half gallons, Quarts, Pints, Specials, etc.

o Operate bottle dump and wash machine.

o Remove and throw away any crates with broken/cracked bottoms – Help prevent safety issues.

o Prepare pallets (build and wrap) with orders for delivery or pick-up.

o Manually weigh, package, and label specialty products.

 

General Cleaning:

o Utilize brooms, dust pans, squeegees, shovels, buckets, and trash cans, and maintain their location for easy access.

o Move trash to designated receptacles.

o Power wash outside warehouse, under stairs, ramps, etc.

o Clean trucks as needed to prepare for loading process

o Utilize lawn care equipment such as a tractor mower and weed eater when needed.

o Spread ice melt and shovel snow as needed during winter conditions.

 

Additional:

o Assist and/or ride along with Route Drivers as needed.

o Review map and layout of buildings to identify Exits, Fire Extinguishers, eye-wash stations, telephone land line, etc

o Maintain consistent placement of First Aid/Safety Box

o Notify Manager or Office of any safety issues, observations, or violations you notice or experience.

o Request items needed and suggest changes needed to improve efficiencies and the duties performed on this job.
